Description

This is Hector of Trojan fame stalking the Cerberus. That's supposed to be the Cerberus reflecting off his very shiny helmet, although to be honest, I matted the helmet since it's sorta impractical to have a super shiny helmet when one is stalking something or other.

I know I posted a lot of last year's art, so this makes it the first time in a long time that I've actually finished a painting. Oddly enough, this is homework for Speech class. Basically, one of my classmates (and room mate, incidentally) wrote a short story that had Hector tricking the Cerberus so that he can steal the three headed dog's collar.

Soooooooo... inspired by comic book covers and the artwork on hockey goalie masks, here's Hector!

like his expression!

you should look at some pics of burnished/old helmets. or pieces of metal that are like that if you can't find any pics (speaking of pics, if you ever do need reference, use flickr.com!!! it's better than googling or looking at stock sites like corbis).

and like you don't use blacks for shadows, don't use whites for lights; it tends to flatten things out. usually in pictures whites are reserved for the brightest spots, which are usually small. erm. glints.

for this pic, i suggest a yellow/orange/brown? at a low opacity, and then adding like a glint of white. or you could do the white spot in light yellow too.

aigoos, i wonder how valid my crits are, when i have a lot of learning to do myself =S
